Gathered Moments

Slow down and connect with a meaningful landscape, translating what you notice into drawings, prints, poetry, and watercolor.

What does it mean to truly notice a landscape, and to tell its story in your own visual language? In Gathered Moments, you’ll be invited to slow down and connect with a landscape that feels meaningful to you. Through observation, collection, and creative response, you’ll explore how colours, sounds, textures, shifting light, and natural found objects can become a collection of expressive, personal artworks.

This class is rooted in nature journaling and evolves into an intuitive, poetic way of documenting your experience. You will take the time to notice, gather and express your experience of the land, whether that’s the coastline, the desert, the forest or even your own backyard. You’ll explore ways of collecting visual and sensory information, documenting and responding to your landscape in ways that feel natural to you.

Nicole will guide you in translating your surroundings into drawings, two kinds of prints, poetry and watercolour paintings, moving between realism and abstraction and teaching concrete skills in these media.  She will show you how to curate your pieces into a cohesive, meaningful collection that reflects your experience of the land.
