Through simple yet impactful techniques, you’ll learn how to infuse your sketched faces with feeling, personality, and a touch of magic. From exaggerated features to quirky details—like expressive ears or playful proportions—each face will have its own unique charm and narrative appeal.

By the end of this class, you’ll have the confidence to create faces that invite the viewer in, inspiring imagination and wonder. Let’s bring these quirky girls to life together!

  • Watercolour paper hot press – 2 x A4 size (21x30cm) torn in half for warm up, 1 x 30x30cm square for main lesson.
  • Black Fine line pen (waterproof) – Staedtler pigment liner or similar – size 0.2-0.6
  • Watersoluble fountain pens – I use Sailor Fude de Mannen and Pilot Prera or Kakuno medium nib.
  • Graphite pencil
  • Black ink (use the ink that comes with your pen or I use Parker Quink Black)
  • Watercolour brush – round medium sized quill/mop/calligraphy or similar
  • Watercolours – Caput Mortuum (PR101), Orange (PO73/PR233/PW6), Titanium White (PW6)
  • Paint palette, ruler, water jar, paper towels
