I absolutely loved creating my own special set of Norse Runes. I’ve had a set of Runes since I was 14 years old and I’ve used them over the years. I love the ancient ties to my own Norwegian ancestors (I’m half Norwegian!).

This process was relaxing and comforting. It was so wonderful to create an intuitive tool like this that I can use in my creative and spiritual practices. A perfect gateway into self-reflection and connection to my higher self.

Polymer Clay
Rolling pin (could use a glass jar or bottle)
Glass beads or gems (optional) - I used Swarovski gems
Clay cutter shape (could also make your own template)
Varathane Polyurethane Water-based Gloss Varnish
Clay tool to inscribe your Rune Symbols (could use a wooden skewer I used a glass dip pen)

Acrylic Paints

I used Arteza Pink, Mauve Light, Sky Blue, Cerulean, Cobalt Ultramarine, Atelier Toning Grey Yellowish, Golden Titanium White, Golden Pearlescent Pearl Fine, Golden Deep Gold Fine

Please NOTE - I used Liquitex Gloss Medium to initially varnish my rune stones. This ended up being very sticky so I ended up using the Varathane Polyurethane Water-based Gloss Varnish on top. This fixed the stickiness. DO NOT USE ACRYLIC MEDIUM to varnish your runes like me! They will end up sticky!!! ;(
