Flowers In A Glass Vase

Journal Lesson

Explore the free-flowing beauty of watercolor inspired by Turner's oil painting, embracing the unpredictability and light in each brushstroke.

I have always enjoyed the beauty of this medium. Watercolor is not a medium to be totally controlled and manipulated and that is the beauty of it. Light shines through each brushstroke of color. I have always loved the free flowing feel of watercolors.  My motto is to just let the paint flow!

I chose this lovely oil painting by Turner to use as our inspiration. Using this lovely color palette, we will create our own flowers in a vase. It will be fun to see our own interpretation of his work and style using a more fluid medium.

It is my hope that you enjoy the process, and let go of expectations. I have painted this same design, more than once. And each time, it takes on an expression of its own.
