Learn forest-inspired painting, capturing the textures and colors of nature.
My inspiration for these lessons comes from many hours spent in the beautiful forests of Vancouver Island. The forest has always been a place for me to play, explore and relax and recently it has also been a place of healing.
Some days the forest is quiet and contemplative, inviting me to sit peacefully and observe the mosses, trees and ferns or to meditate beside the river. Other days the forest energizes me with the bustling birds or all the plants and branches are swaying in the wild west coast wind. The forest offers me the space to nurture all of my senses and care for my body, mind and heart.
Whether I’m walking, sitting or moving quickly through the forest on a trail run, I absorb the colours, shapes, textures and feeling of the forest. I bring imagery, colour palettes, and movement into layers of painting and drawing, combining my sensory experiences with my emotional response to these special places.
