Journal Lesson
Discover the joy of clay by creating unique pinch pots and embedded bowls, exploring a patient and hands-on art form.
Clay. Be still my heart. To be honest I was never into working with clay until this year. I always was drawn to all kinds of clay thinking "I need to try that sometime". I could always feel a pull towards it but never had the time until I made the decision to just go for it. I first got some air dry clay and created some really cute pots!! I fell in love, hard. There is something very special about creating something with your hands that is unique to you every time.
In this lesson we will make a couple of different pots/bowls. The first one will be a pinch pot which is exactly as it sounds. We will be essentially pinching a pot out of a mound of clay. The second bowl we will roll out and embed some of the things we found during our walks.
Air dry clay needs quite a long time to dry especially if you live in an area that is quite moist. So, this is a project that will take some time and I actually love that because I will do that with my art. I will often walk away in the middle in order to give myself a fresh perspective.
Enjoy exploring the sweetness that is clay pots/bowls!
