Portraits In Monochrome

Explore monochromatic palettes in women's portraits using acrylics, inks, collage, and more for expressive art.

I love color and often use many hues in my work! BUT lately I have loved the softness of a monochromatic palette. It seems so perfect for women’s portraits. I’ve created an entire series, in different colors exploring techniques with acrylics, inks, collage and the exciting possibilities of  line work and mark making!I am excited to share my process with you since I love the freedom mixed media offers. Painting, printing, adding collage, working with a palette knife and using oil pastel… it’s going to be so much fun!

  • Acrylic paint (I am using Amsterdam but any paint will do)
  • Acrylic binder or any glue
  • Paint brush and palette knife
  • Some collage paper
  • pencil,  charcoal, oil pastels (anything for line work can be useful)
  • Paper or canvas
